Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director

Mr Michael Knaap was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for Monash IVF Group on 15 April 2019.

Following his tenure as MVF Group’s Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary since August 2015, Michael was appointed to Interim CEO in Oct 2018.

Mr Knaap has nearly 20 years experience in executive positions with a strong operational, strategic and leadership background. Prior to joining MVF Group, Michael was with Patties Foods Limited where he held a number of executive positions over six years, including the role of Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary.

He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from Monash University and is a Certified Practising Accountant.

Malik Jainudeen

Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary

Mr Malik Jainudeen was appointed to the role of Monash IVF Group Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary on 15 April 2019.

Malik joined MVF Group in 2014 as a senior finance leader and has continued to progress his career with MVF Group including the recent appointment of Interim CFO in 2018.

He has more than 15 years experience in the finance sector including 10 years at KPMG as a Manager in Audit and Assurance where his client portfolio included ASX listed organisations Origin Energy Limited, AusNet Services and Dulux Group Limited. Malik was also the External Audit Manager for the Monash IVF Group for 6 years prior to its listing on the ASX in 2014.

He holds a Bachelor of Business and is a Chartered Accountant.

Fiona Allen

Chief Marketing Officer

Fiona Allen joined Monash IVF Group as Chief Marketing Officer in July 2019.

She is accountable for evolving the Monash IVF brand to meet the changing needs of the Australian community. She is also accountable for building customer awareness and advocacy, driving acquisition and retention, and creating experiences that customers love. A key areas of focus is driving innovation and simplicity in customer interactions.

Over the last 20 years Fiona has worked in senior marketing roles across a variety of sectors including healthcare, human services, financial services, professional services and FMCG. Most recently she worked with Medibank Health Solutions, GE Capital, and Simplot, helping them grow their brands and transition to a customer centric model and culture.

Fiona holds a Masters of Business Administration and a qualification in Marketing.

Tedd Fuell

Chief Governance & Risk Officer

Ms Tedd Fuell joined the Monash IVF Group in February 2016 as the Group Quality, Risk & Compliance Manager. Tedd has spent the last 18 years working in the healthcare industry in both project management and quality and compliance roles. Before joining the Monash IVF Group, Tedd worked for UK Pharmaceutical Group, Forum Bioscience and subsidiary Britannia Pharmaceuticals. Her last 10 years have been spent in the fertility industry working on quality, risk and compliance.

Tedd holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology) degree from the University of London.

Hamish Hamilton

Chief Operating Officer

Hamish started in the role of Chief Operating Officer on 30 March 2020. Hamish has over 15 years of experience working with Monash IVF. He joined the Group in 2005 and has since held leadership positions in science, ultrasound and fertility across South Australia, Victoria, Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales.

Hamish is passionate about the service we provide and the way its’ outcomes can change people’s lives. This drives him to ensure that Monash IVF continues to have the very best people, science, and facilities to help would-be parents navigate through their fertility and pregnancy journey.

Hamish is honoured to partner with our world leading clinicians and lead our Operations Team to provide a service that gives people the absolute greatest chance of having a baby and the best experience along the way.

Johannes Lagerwij

Asia Managing Director

Mr Johannes “Jan” Lagerwij joined the Monash IVF Group in March 2017 as the Asia Managing Director.

Jan’s role will be to further strengthen the organisation’s footprint in international markets by identifying and executing potential overseas partnerships and acquisitions to grow and expand the Monash IVF Group brand internationally. Jan comes with extensive global experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, co-development licensing and funding in the healthcare field.

Prior to his appointment with Monash IVF Group, he was an independent healthcare consultant advising strategic firms, venture capital and private equity in various strategic and transactional projects in China and Singapore.

May Kew

Centre Manager of KL Fertility

Ms. May Kew joined in June 2015 as the Centre Manager of KL Fertility. She is responsible for the overall operations, administrations, business development and marketing aspects of the business unit. Prior to her joining KL Fertility, she was a very experienced and renowned Chief Embryologist at one of Malaysia's busiest fertility centre and possess more than 14 years of experience as an Embryologist. She graduated from the University of Leeds in the UK with Master of Science in Clinical Embryology and is currently undergoing Masters in Business Administration.

Peggy North

Peggy North

Chief People & Culture Officer

Ms Peggy North joined the Monash IVF Group as Group Human Resources Manager in March 2017.

In her 16 years as a Human Resources specialist, she has worked in large multinational, public and private companies, developing HR action plans; designing, leading and facilitating change processes; applying change management methodologies; and, developing recommendations to promote HR policy, cultural and procedural change.

Prior to joining the Group, Peggy gained her Human Resources experience working for leading Australian and International FMCG organisations.

Peggy holds a Bachelor’s degree of Commerce, Human Resources Management and Services from the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne and is currently undertaking her MBA.

Thierry Panthier

Mr Thierry Panthier joined Monash IVF in May 2019 and is responsible for continuing and expanding the group's digital transformation and cyber security initiatives. Before joining Monash IVF Group, Thierry worked in management roles for Mediaocean and Faiveley Transport.

Prof Luk Rombauts

Group Medical Director

Prof Luk Rombauts joined the Monash IVF Group in 1999, becoming Group Medical Director in 2016. Luk also holds positions as the Research Director at Monash IVF, Adjunct Clinical Professor at Monash University and Clinical Research Director of the Endometriosis Care Centre of Australia (ECCA). Luk is also the Vice-President of the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA) where he was appointed in 2011.

Prof Deirdre Zander-Fox

Chief Scientific Officer

Prof Deirdre Zander-Fox has worked in Assisted Reproduction since 2004. She is currently the Monash IVF Group Chief Scientific Officer as well as being Regional Scientific Director overseeing Monash IVF Victoria, Monash IVF Albury, and Malaysia. She is responsible for the scientific and research strategy for embryology, andrology, and endocrine services across the Monash IVF Group as well as directing laboratory operations for Victoria, Albury, and Malaysia. She is also chair of the Group Scientific Advisory Committee for the Monash IVF Group.

In addition to her clinical roles, Prof Zander-Fox also holds multiple academic positions including adjunct Professor at Monash University and A/Prof at the University of Adelaide as well as holding National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) research funding including recently being a CI on the successful $15million MRFF grant to pilot Mitochondrial donation in Australia as part of a clinical trial. Professor Zander-Fox has authored a substantial number of peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters with her research primarily focusing on improving laboratory technology that will directly benefit infertile patients including cryopreservation, microinjection technology, and culture media design.
